Help & Getting Started

Getting Started

1

Import Your Flights

The easiest way is to connect Gmail on the Import & Sync page — FlightPath will scan your inbox for flight confirmations and import them automatically. Alternatively, forward individual confirmation emails to flights@flightpath.to and FlightPath will parse and reply with a confirmation.

2

Add or Import Flights Manually

Go to the Flights page and click Add Flight to enter details by hand. To bulk-upload past flights, use the CSV importer on the Import & Sync page — it supports exports from MyFlightradar24, Flighty, and OpenFlights.

3

View and Edit Flights

Visit the Flights page to see all your logged flights. Click Edit on any row to update details such as seat number, cabin class, status, or to add a personal note.

4

Share Your Profile

Your public profile is available at flightpath.to/u/{username}. Share the link with anyone — no account required to view it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which email formats are supported?

FlightPath can parse confirmation emails from most major airlines and booking platforms. If your email isn't recognised, try adding the flight manually, or contact us so we can add support.

Can I forward from a different email address?

Yes. Go to Import & Sync, open the Email Forwarding card, and add an alternate forwarding address. You'll receive a verification email to confirm it before it becomes active.

Will re-forwarding the same email create duplicate flights?

No. If the email contains a booking reference, FlightPath checks whether those flights already exist. Exact duplicates are skipped; an updated itinerary (same booking reference, changed flights) will update the existing record instead. You can see the outcome of every processed email in the Recent Emails card on the Import & Sync page.

What is the Recent Emails log?

The Recent Emails card on the Import & Sync page shows the last 50 emails FlightPath has processed — whether forwarded directly or found via Gmail sync — along with the result: flights added, updated, skipped, or any errors. Use it to diagnose why an email didn't produce the expected result.

How does Gmail sync work?

On the Import & Sync page, connect your Google account under Google Gmail. FlightPath requests read-only access and never stores your messages. Once connected you can choose between two modes: One-time import scans your inbox once and finds confirmations going back three years — useful for importing your full flight history before disconnecting. Keep synced keeps your Gmail linked and automatically checks for new confirmations once per day. You can switch modes or disconnect at any time.

What are Ticket Names, and why do I need them for Gmail sync?

When scanning Gmail, FlightPath can filter out itineraries that were forwarded to you by someone else (e.g. a travel agent or friend) by checking whether your name appears in the email body. Enter your name(s) as they appear on tickets — for example Jane Smith or J. Smith — one per line, in the Ticket Names field inside the Gmail card on Import & Sync. If you leave this blank, all matching emails are imported regardless of whose name is on them.

Can I add flights automatically without forwarding each email manually?

Yes — the simplest option is to connect Gmail and enable Keep synced mode (see above). If you prefer not to link Gmail, you can set up an automatic forwarding rule in your email client: create a filter that forwards any message from your airline (or booking platforms like Expedia, Google Flights, etc.) to flights@flightpath.to. Once the rule is in place, every future confirmation lands in FlightPath automatically.

How much does FlightPath cost?

FlightPath is completely free, and will always be free. No subscription, no premium tier, no ads.

Which CSV formats can I import?

The importer automatically detects and supports exports from MyFlightradar24, Flighty, and OpenFlights, as well as the FlightPath CSV produced by the Export button in Settings. Airline names and cabin classes are resolved to canonical values automatically — for example, a Flighty export's two-letter airline code is expanded to the full carrier name. If an airline can't be matched it is kept as-is; you can always edit individual flights afterwards.

How are CO₂ emissions estimated?

Emissions are estimated using the DEFRA 2025 greenhouse gas conversion factors for passenger aviation. The base CO₂e factor depends on flight distance: domestic (<700 km) uses 0.267 kg CO₂e/km, short-haul (700–3,700 km) uses 0.158 kg CO₂e/km, and long-haul (>3,700 km) uses 0.151 kg CO₂e/km. Each factor is then multiplied by a cabin class weighting — Economy ×1.0, Premium Economy ×1.7, Business ×4.1, First ×9.1 — to reflect the greater share of the aircraft's footprint consumed by larger seats. A 1.08× routing uplift is applied to account for the fact that flights rarely travel in a straight line. Methane (CH₄) and nitrous oxide (N₂O) figures are derived separately from estimated fuel consumption using IPCC combustion emission factors. All estimates assume a full passenger load and are intended as a reasonable guide rather than a precise measurement.

Is my profile public?

It depends on your privacy setting in Settings. There are three options: Public makes your full profile — map, flight list, and all charts — visible to anyone with your link. Limited shows only your map and summary stats, hiding the detailed flight list and charts. Private makes your profile invisible to everyone but you. There is no public search directory regardless of setting, so only people you share your link with can find you.

How do I change my username?

Go to Settings and update the Username field. Usernames must be 3–30 characters and may only contain lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores. Your profile URL will update immediately to flightpath.to/u/{new-username}.
